So, if you adore Pearl's dazzlingly dreamy decor as much as we do, then you'll love this inspiring read!
Let’s start at the very beginning, tell us about yourself and where your love for interiors started?
My Mum was an interior designer, so from a very young age, she would take me shopping for tiles, paints and fabrics & I loved it. She even let me design my bedroom when I was about 9years old. I had a red and white theme, it was pretty hideous looking back. Ever since I have always been passionate about interiors and antiques. I joined a band in my teens, but in my early 30s after having my 4 children I started designing as a profession.
Your most recent project, renovating your adobe by the sea, what was it that made you fall in love with it and what made it the perfect candidate for renovation?
I fell in love with the house as soon as we drove up to it. It had so much character. The previous owners had a colourful bohemian style, which I loved. But I wanted to bring a lot more white into the house. I wanted a fresh feel to it. So it was the perfect property for me to get my hands on.
You have created so many spectacular spaces in your home, how do you go about planning the design for each room?
With this house, I looked at it as a whole, rather than individual bedrooms. I didn’t want a generic beach house with blue ticking and ships everywhere. I wanted it to be light with touches of colour with more of a french vintage feel.
Your home is full of fabulous vintage finds and ravishing rock ‘n’ roll touches, what are you drawn to when shopping for a space?
Thank you! I find a lot of my pieces online. I follow a lot of antique dealers on Instagram & I love eBay and Etsy and Hoarde & Facebook marketplace, as you can pick up some real bargains.
How would you describe your personal style?
The photographer Simon Brown once described my style as rock-n-roll Romantic. I would say that pretty much sums up my style, mixed with a bit of faded glamour of course!
Which room in your seaside home have you most enjoyed decorating so far and why?
I love our kitchen. We took down a broken hearth that divided the room & asked Devol to work with us on a kitchen. We went for their shaker kitchen & I found some Breccia Oniciata marble in Italy and added it to the worktops. I found an old 70s leather sofa in The Old Cinema in Chiswick. It just works really well.
We’re so excited to read your latest book Faded Glamour By The Sea, what lovely things can we find in this gorgeous interiors book?
We have a wonderful Railway carriage, a beach hut. A rock-n-roll hotel belonging to the Libertines. There’s Helena Christensen’s heavenly house in Denmark & Rachel Ashwell’s Malibu home.
You’re incredibly talented at completely transforming a space into something daring and divine! What inspires you to make your design projects totally one of a kind?
I often feel inspired when I travel, I remember one summer going to Greece and seeing a blue painted window, When I came home, I painted all our windows blue throughout our whole house. It looked great. I feel inspired by Pinterest and Instagram. I follow some really inspiring accounts including yours.
Do you have any exciting plans for your interior décor or design this year?
I am launching my very own wallpaper on my website soon, which I am so excited about. It’s quite different from anything I have ever designed before. I have also just launched my first vintage and antiques page on my website, which is going so well. I will be expanding that!
Finally, name three new Rockett St George products that you love!
I’m currently decorating my garden area, so the Beautiful Cane Seated Sun Lounger, French-style Swinging Garden Chair and Vintage Floral Parasol.
