Artisan Chalk Wash Paint by Craig & Rose
The artisan paint Chalk Wash collection is the perfect choice for anyone who is looking to get creative with their decor. A decorative paint, the chalk wash paint will create a textured, marbled effect that will bring your walls to life. Co-founders of Rockett St George, Jane Rockett and Lucy St George have both selected four colours for the collection which you can discover below.
Shop the paints:
You Will Need:
- Chalk wash paint colour of your choosing.
- Chalky emulsion base colour of your choosing.
- Muslin / Cotton Rags that are clean and dry.
- Sponge - a synthetic or sea sponge works best.
- High-quality paintbrush.
Application:
*Practice makes perfect! We recommend practising the following steps on a board to give you the opportunity to test your preferred finish.
Step 1
7 Days prior to applying the chalk wash paint to your walls, paint your walls with chalky emulsion paint. We have a selection of chalky emulsion paints that you can discover in the Rockett St George Paint Department. Top tip - select a chalky emulsion paint that best complements your chalk wash paint. E.g. bohemia pink chalky emulsion paint would beautifully complement our Clay Pink Chalk Wash Paint.
Step 2
Wait 7 days after completing step 1 and then starting at the top corner of your walls apply the chalk wash paint with a wide high-quality paintbrush in random strokes or patterns.
Step 3
Next, rag muslin or cotton rags over the freshly painted chalk wash. Be sure, to turn the cloth to avoid creating a 'stamped' effect and apply using a 'pressing' action in quick motions to the walls.
Avoid stopping halfway through and do not go back over completed work. This will ensure that the effect remains even.
Step 4
For a softer, more subtle look, use a dry brush when the paint is nearly dry and run the brush in all directions. This will break up darker patches and create variations in colour and texture.
Dry Time: 1. Recoat 2-4 hrs, depending on conditions.
Decorative Gold Effect Paints
Available in 2.5L, 750ml, 250ml & 125ml, the extraordinary metallic Gold Effects paint will reveal the beautifully organic brushstroke contours to give your walls a decorative punch that stands out from the rest. Choose from Bronze Gold, Rose Gold and Antique Gold.

You Will Need:
- Gold Effect Paints
- Chalky Emulsion Paint (optional)
- Paint Roller
- Paint Brush
Application
As with the chalk wash paints we recommend practising the below steps to test different finishes and brush strokes.
Step 1
For a more polished look that lasts we recommend painting your walls with chalky emulsion paint, 7 days prior to applying the gold effect paints to your walls. This step is optional and you can skip right ahead to step 2 if you prefer. However, please note,
Step 2
Using a paintbrush, drag the brush and your chosen gold effect paint across the walls in a random pattern.
Step 3
Using a roller for the first coat, apply light and even pressure rolling the paint as close to the edges as you can get to cover the brush strokes.
Step 4
Using a roller for the second coat, work in small sections applying even and light pressure.
Step 5
Whilst the paint is still wet, drag a brush in a random pattern over your walls. Be sure to overlap the brush strokes and avoid touching up to create an event effect.
