Magical Wallpaper Murals

Murals are one of our most favourite ways to make a dramatic statement in the home. This works especially well in the bedroom by creating a fabulous backdrop to your bedroom furniture. The beauty of using a wallpaper mural in the bedroom is that it will save you time and effort as you only really need to apply it to one wall. Simply tie in your paint colour and you have an instant bedroom makeover! With so many designs to inspire you, you can really let your imagination run wild. Dream big with a whimsical Chinoiserie Wallpaper of the Taj Mahal, or go for something a little more abstract like the painterly Mr Perswall Expressions Collection. We used a beautiful floral Twilight Garden Wall Mural in our concession at Liberty London last year and it was a massive hit.

Whatever you decide to go for – don’t worry too much about making the right or wrong decision. The great thing about decorating is that you are free to redecorate whenever you like! And if you’re anything like us, then you’ll be constantly reworking your home décor. We have lots of amazing wallpaper murals available online - we are a bit obsessed! If you'd like to see some more mural inspiration, we've saved more of our favourite bedroom wallpaper ideas on our Pinterest board Magical Murals.

Nature & Floral Patterns

Bringing in an element of nature into your bedroom decor will have a transformative and relaxing effect. One of the more fun themes you can go for, nature and floral wallpaper designs will add an explosion of colour and pattern to your walls! Anything from luscious greenery to bold and beautiful blooms will look amazing in the bedroom. Palm leaf designs have become a classic in recent years and the reworking by Cole & Son has brought our favourite design up to date for a beautiful new bedroom look.

When we came to design our own wallpaper range, we just couldn't go without a Flower Power design of our own! If you want to really make your mark on your bedroom decor, why not wallpaper the entire room in your favourite florals? Including the ceiling! Not for the faint-hearted, but definitely one way to maximise the impact on your bedroom decor.

Animals & Animal Print

From soft and feminine to damn right sexy - depending on whose bedroom you are decorating, animal and animal print wallpaper will unleash your inner wild side! Perfect for kids bedrooms, we love playful flamingo, swan or woodland designs what will keep a young mind full of imagination. For something a little more grown-up, wallpapers for the bedroom which feature monkeys or leopards are a great transition decor that will last. For the adults, perhaps something a little more seductive. To create a true sanctuary for couples, try a snakeskin or leopard print wallpaper. It will make you feel sexy every time you walk into the room and also acts as a neutral so is super easy to style.

Animal prints look great teamed with other soft neutral tones. Try matching some of the colours in our New Neutral colour trend Pinterest board to find your favourite combination. If you already have a copy of our first book, then you may have seen how our co-founder Jane Rockett wallpapered her entire bedroom in snakeskin wallpaper. Not a natural maximalist, Jane didn't feel comfortable with the excess of pattern over her entire bedroom walls and decided to redecorate. If you're the same and prefer more peaceful bedroom decor then perhaps a hint of animal print would work best for you. Try wallpapering a cupboard door, or upcycling your chest of drawers to try out the look before you commit.

Industrial Style Bedrooms

So now we move onto one of the more contemporary styles of wallpaper that you can choose for your bedroom decor. Not for everyone, this style will certainly appeal best to those with either a modern and minimalist style home or a period home that embraces its quirky history. Using brick effect wallpaper is a great alternative to hacking back the plaster on your walls to expose real (and very dusty!) bricks. The same can be said for wood or metal tin tile effect wallpaper designs which both give a dramatic effect without the effort of applying the real thing to the walls.

These designs would look fabulous as a backdrop to your bed or as a feature wall in the bedroom. If you lack character in your home then there is absolutely no reason why you can't create it yourself. In fact, that is sometimes where the magic happens! Discover our board of favourite Industrial Style Bedrooms on Pinterest for more inspiration.

Trompe L'Oeil

Similarly to our industrial examples, Trompe L'Oeil wallpaper can take your bedroom decor to a whole new level entirely. This is another great option if your home lacks character or you'd like to emphasise what you've already got. Thanks to the fabulous Chelsea of The House That Black Built, wood panelling has become a massive trend for the home in the last 12 months. But it does require a lot of hard work to get it right. That's where a great faux wood wallpaper can work wonders if this is the style you want for your bedroom. Combining the trend for panelling with a rich dark oak colour, the Regent Oak Wood Panelling Wallpaper by Andrew Martin is a fantastic way to achieve the effect for less. If you're into trends and haven't yet turned your hand to using woven cane within your interiors, then the new NLXL Vintage Webbing Wallpaper By Mr & Mrs Vintage could be the one for you. Available in natural or black colourways, the no-repeat wallpaper will add texture and effortless style to your bedroom decor!

With such a broad variety of designs to choose from, we recommend looking to your wardrobe to discover which wallpaper designs you're more likely to live with and love for a long time. If you have lots of animal print and no florals, then it's pretty safe to say that you would tire quickly or might even regret using florals on your walls.
